Carl

I’ve spent the majority of my adult life (19 years) in Special Operations. Special Forces (“SF”) have many core missions but unconventional warfare by, with, and through foreign partners remains our core purpose. Somewhere in the world, there is an SF Soldier training a foreigner how to shoot, move, communicate, and medicate. I’ve dedicated my life to supporting and training humans and it’s only natural I continue that effort as I leave the military.

After the birth of my son, I realized how valuable the lessons learned in the military could be to his growth and development as a man. Accordingly, I created the Direct Action Dad team to continue what I know best: teaching, coaching, and mentoring. I believe the lessons, hardships, and struggles make us stronger and more resilient, and provide the grit necessary to overcome adversity, and it’s our responsibility to instill these values in our children. I am also aware that not everyone has access to the unique experiences that I have had. Therefore, Direct Action Dad was established to share the hard-learned lessons in training and combat in a safe, productive, and conducive environment.

I have a bunch of advanced schooling and awards but staying true to the SF motto “The Quiet Professional,” I’m choosing to skip boring you with that crap for now and talk about the best damn men I’ve ever met and without a doubt better than me in more ways than I can count. The Direct Action Dad Team consists of several SF Soldiers who I have served with on an Operational Detachment Alpha in combat and have at least one child. I trust these men with not only my own life but with the life of my family. They each have unique skills and qualities that support our mission statement. Unfortunately, every great SF team comes to an end as Soldiers move or leave the Army…the good news is Direct Action Dads will continue to teach, coach, and mentor fathers until you decide we are no longer needed.
